Save the date: INFARMED Hosts Final Symposium of the European Project Real4Reg | 3 e 4 de novembro de 2026

Can regulatory and health technology assessment (HTA) decision-making be optimised through the use of real-world data (RWD) and artificial intelligence (AI) methods?

This was the core research question of the European project Real4Reg, an innovative initiative funded by the European Union and coordinated by the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM). This project aimed to enable the use, establish the value, and impact RWD use and analyses in regulatory and HTA decision-making, through the development of AI methods. The project’s results, lessons learnt, and insights on how RWD can impact decision-making will be shared on a Final Symposium, hosted by INFARMED, I.P. on 3-4 November 2026.

The agenda includes the following sections: results of each research topic (breast cancer, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, fluoroquinolones, and SGLT2 inhibitors), methodology (including the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership common data model), and RWD training modules developed (available soon). In addition, other presentations in RWD field will take place, as well as a session dedicated to patients.

The target audience includes regulatory/HTA specialists, researchers, professors, industry representatives, healthcare professionals, patient organisations, general public, among others.

Infarmed acolhe Simpósio Final do Projeto Europeu Real4Reg

Será que as decisões regulatórias e de avaliação de tecnologias de saúde podem ser otimizadas através do uso de dados do mundo real (em inglês real-world data (RWD)) e métodos de inteligência artificial (IA)?

Este foi o tópico central de investigação do projeto europeu Real4Reg, uma iniciativa inovadora financiada pela União Europeia e coordenada pelo Instituto Federal de Medicamentos e Dispositivos Médicos Alemão (BfArM). Este projeto pretendia possibilitar o uso, estabelecer o valor e impactar o uso e análise da RWD em decisões regulatórias e de avaliação de tecnologias de saúde, através do desenvolvimento de métodos de IA. Os resultados do projeto, as lições aprendidas e a forma como a RWD pode impactar a tomada de decisões serão partilhados num simpósio final, organizado pelo INFARMED, I.P. nos dias 3 e 4 de novembro de 2026.

A agenda inclui os seguintes temas: resultados de cada tópico de investigação (cancro da mama, esclerose lateral amiotrófica, fluoroquinolonas e inibidores SGLT2), metodologia (incluindo o modelo de dados comum Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership) e módulos de training sobre RWD desenvolvidos (disponíveis brevemente). Adicionalmente, irão ocorrer outras sessões no âmbito da RWD e, também, uma sessão dedicada a doentes.

O público alvo inclui especialistas de agências reguladoras/de avaliação de tecnologias da saúde, investigadores, professores universitários, representantes da indústria, profissionais de saúde, organizações de doentes e público em geral, entre outros.
